Paul Jones, Chair of the Venture Best™practice group, brings a wealth of entrepreneurial and angel/venture capital investing experience to the Venture Best team. He began his legal career in Silicon Valley, later practiced in North Carolina and now Wisconsin, focusing his efforts on representing emerging technology entrepreneurs and the businesses and angel and venture investors who finance them. Along the way, he co-founded several venture capital backed start-up businesses in diverse IT and life sciences sectors, served as a director of private and public technology companies, has been an active angel investor, and co-founded and served as a managing director of a $26 million venture capital fund.
Gregory Lynch is Co-founder of Michael Best & Friedrich LLP’s Venture Best™ emerging technology practice and Managing Partner the firm’s Madison office. Greg has over 15 years of experience working with entrepreneurial and emerging technology companies. Greg’s areas of concentration include early-stage company formation, angel and venture capital financing, public and private placement of securities.
Tod Linstroth is Co-founder of Michael Best & Friedrich LLP’s Venture Best™ emerging technology practice and past two-time Chair of the firm’s Management Committee. Tod serves as lead corporate counsel to many significant corporate and emerging technology clients. Tod’s experience as lead counsel includes a broad range of complex transactions which include corporate financings, leveraged buyouts, mergers and acquisitions (involving public and private companies), divestitures, recapitalizations, securities offerings, corporate structure and governance.
Alec Fraser is Co-founder of Michael Best & Friedrich LLP’s Venture Best™ emerging technology practice. Alec has over 15 years of experience working with entrepreneurial and emerging technology companies. Alec’s areas of concentration include early-stage company formation, angel and venture capital financing and university technology transfer transactions.
Melissa Turczyn is a member of the Transactional Group and is Co-Chair of the Venture Best ™ Team. Ms. Turczyn is also a member of the firm’s Energy and Sustainability and Stimulus Legislation Teams. Ms. Turczyn is an attorney at Michael Best. Her practice focuses on all aspects of corporate law, with an emphasis on corporate taxation and venture capital. She represents early-stage companies in financing and general corporate matters. She also represents venture capital / angel funds and other investors in venture capital financing. She has experience with franchise law, representing both franchisees and franchisors, specifically aiding franchisors in connection with registration of the franchise, financing and general franchising matters. Additionally, she has worked with regulated industries, including health care, insurance and public utilities.
Kelly Teelin is a corporate paralegal in the Madison office. She began work as a corporate paralegal in Silicon Valley before returning home to Wisconsin. With other members of the Venture Best™ team, she manages incorporation, organization, corporate governance and capitalization matters for companies at all stages of growth.
